Actually, the rectangle bulb is the inner tube of the bulb; the shape of the cross section of the gas tank, the space shape is a cylinder.

(1) The gas tank space shape decide the light type
At present, most of the HID bulb gas tanks are still using the bulb blowing plan of OLIVE SHAPE in China, which is the plan of Philips before 2002. But after 2002, Philips has given up the OLIVE SHAPE and turn to the RECTANGLE SHAPE, using the RECTANGLE BLUB can: 1. Avoid the starting speed being slowly. 2. Avoid the air pressure not uniform to get the bulb to burst. 3. Avoid the energy shortage. 4. Avoid the situation of diffuse reflection.
As we all know, the most standard light type is halogen lamp of original car, because the shape of the filament winding is a cylinder (the cross section is rectangular). When the lamp lights, most of the lights are concentrated on the middle of the cylinder, and you hardly can see the diffuse reflection, because when it reflects through the lamp of headlight, the lights will irradiate clearly and regularly on the floor, light and shade cutting line is obvious, and you almost could not see the diffuse light.
When the lamp lighting, the lights of traditional light gas tank (Olive Shape) will present in all directions and you can not distinguish the effective light or the diffuse light which will less or more. Through the lamp of headlight to reflection, some of the lights can irradiation on the floor, and the diffuse light would more than the effective light, that is one of the reasons why some of HID bulbs are installed in the car, people feel the lights dazzling but the driver feels not clear enough.
We (VLK) pay attention to technology upgrading and independent research and development, so we learn the PHILIPS, OSRAM, GE, etc. to produce the VLK rectangle bulb, its effective light ratio and lighting effects is close to the halogen lamp of original car, it is the first selection of HID replacement parts.
(2) The gas tank space shape affects the air pressure of the bulbs
Gas tank filled with inert gas is given priority to with xenon, is the air pressure's multiple. When the lamp lights, the gas tank acts like a small storm - high energy and collision around due to arc and rare earth activities. Due to the pressure of gas tank, the OLIVE SHAPE BULB shows high in the end and lower in the middle, because the volume is not uniform. After the bulb lights up, because of the uneven energy distribution in collision, the power of keeping electric arc will decline and would get the risk of quartz tube burst. The rectangle space shape is a cylinder, as shown in Fig 2. The vast majority of equal position, the cabin internal pressure is relatively uniform. And we also know that the axiom: Between two points, a straight line is the shortest. In different gas tank form, the axiom is particularly obvious - affecting the lamp start-up speed.
The olive shape bulb because of the pressure on both ends is larger than middle area, when the arc from one end shock to another, to the middle area of cabin, because of the pressure becomes lower to produce its selective curve, even close to the pipe to go ahead, to overcome the increasing pressure to forward again, to reach the other end of the electrode. Because of the rectangle bulb space shape is cylinder, pressure equalization, after the arc from one end to the external shocks, to reach the other end of the electrode in the shortest route to light on.
While we using the same standard parameters ballast to light up, the rectangle bulb start speed compared with the olive shape bulb have greatly improved. Also, the normal ballast on the market is good and bad mixed together; we can not ensure the quality. Firstly, if there are in energy shortage, the bulb probably can not lighting. Secondly, if the gas tank did not have enough stable form, it will be the following situation: slow start, even the arc interrupted, result in the light off. But if the bulb is rectangle, it will not be out of this situation. We have the full automatic production line to produce bulbs, and each bulb is a rectangle bulb.
